Techies needed in Healthcare!

The health care industry offers one of the best employment prospects in the country to date.  Even with the current problem of recession, the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics projected a 22 percent growth by 2016, with the creation of 3 million new jobs. Of the numerous different healthcare occupations, people are only familiar with those that are occupied by nurses, doctors, and physical therapists.

But are you aware that there is one other emerging industry in healthcare?  The growth of a new branch called health information technology is caused by  fast advancements in science and technology, and it's aimed at helping the growing number of Americans in need of medical care and services.  While nurses, doctors, and physicians provide medical attention and supervision to patients, health IT professionals are concerned about how medical information is generated, stored, and supplied to improve patient-care situations in hospitals.

The incessant developments and new discoveries in medicine also caused the demand for more health IT professionals.  This is why 40,000 more health IT professionals are needed across the country. Hot health IT careers include biostatisticians, surgical technologist, system technicians, and medical technology officers.  Depending on your earned degree and specialty, these jobs earn nearly $500,000 each year!

If you want to use your IT knowledge in health care, get a degree in healthcare management now!

Colleges and universities are observed to create new academic programs aimed for future health IT professionalsSt. Louis University, for instance, will add a master's program in informatics this fall.  You can check out other schools in your area to see if they're offering similar programs, or you can even browse through available online health IT programs right here on Free Career Search!
