Little Known Ways to Get a Job in Facebook or Myspace

With soaring gas prices reaching nearly $4 per gallon, using your car to get around while job hunting might not be such a great idea.  But do you know that there's an easier and cheaper way to look for jobs?  Through various online services, you won't have to spend a dime on looking for jobs, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to look for jobs over the internet.  Job hunting can be as easy as signing up for an account with Facebook, Myspace, or Squidoo.

Myspace, Squidoo, Facebook, and Linkedln are just some of the burgeoning social networking sites used by job hunters all over the world.  Social network sites virtual communities where one can connect and communicate with others in the cyberworld.  In fact, these sites are some of the most popular on the web today.  According to ComScore.com, an online metrics company, site users of social networking sites globally increased by 25 percent.  Furthermore, it was identified that North American users of these sites also grew by 9 percent

When it comes to searching for a job, networking site users usually join or create a network to show people his or her work experience and academic background.  The sites also offer a search function to find people that other users want to be linked with.  Several companies have now created their own accounts to get virtual interactions with the public.  Consequently, users can add these accounts to know updates on vacant positions the company is offering.  Online applications are readily available to these networking sites that make job hunting easier.  Facebook, for example, has its own Marketplace and Jobster, both of which are used as tools in building your own professional profile and to make online business cards that you can use in applying for jobs online.

Employers themselves have also become increasing active in these social networking sites.  A current poll from Careerbuilder.com reported that 12 percent of hiring managers admitted that they use the Internet -- particularly Myspace and Facebook -- to do background checks on job candidates.

This is why it’s ideal to have a polished online profile, especially on your social network accounts.  And the best tip for this is to keep social separate from professional networking. You can do this by using your Facebook or Myspace privacy settings.  This is to guarantee only professional information is visible to your prospective employers.  Seeing your party photos from the weekend will not give you extra points in job application.

Searching for a job is hard can be pretty hard these days, but there's a good chance that you'll find that perfect job just waiting for you in Facebook!  Look around and try to see what your options are online.  Your professional future can be just a mouse-click away!
