Earn a Teaching Degree

When it comes to careers in education, it’s all about what you teach and where.  The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics reported that job prospects in education are usually favorable, but these opportunities vary by states and according to the subjects you can teach.  Fast-growing states can be found in the South and West, like Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia.  Peter Hunt, an assistant director of the Boston College career center, also said "The market in the Boston area is particularly tight at the elementary level." 

But overall, the employment rate for teachers is still faster compared to other jobs.  According to the recent edition of Occupational Outlook Handbook of the U.S. Department of Labor, school teachers will grow by 12 percent from 2006 to 2016, generating 479,000 jobs across the country.  One cause of this demand is the great number of baby boomers who are about to retire from the school system.  Employment opportunities for teachers from kindergarten to secondary school have therefore risen, especially when compared to the employment rate for other jobs.

If you like to work with kids, you can be a preschool, kindergarten, or elementary school teacher.  You need to teach basic skills and information in subjects like Math, Science and English.  To educate these young minds, you can use games, music, films, and computers as teaching aids that make learning both fun and interactive. 

Middle school teacher , meanwhile, help young adults and teenagers get a better understanding of more difficult or specialized subjects like history, biology, literature, and Physics.  Furthermore, they also administer career orientation initiatives and curricula to help students in their career paths, even at an early stage.
